‘Dine Out at Deanie’s’ Dishes up Proceeds for Local Schools

Deanie’s in Bucktown Donates Portion of Sales to Support Schools

METAIRIE, LA.—Deanie’s Seafood in Bucktown has launched a new community-giving program, Dine Out at Deanie’s, to support local schools in the Metairie community. Under the Dine Out at Deanie’s initiative, Deanie’s is donating a portion of the purchase price of orders at Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant and Deanie’s Seafood Market made on Dine Out day by supporters of the school for the week.

Dine Out at Deanie’s is valid for purchases at Deanie’s Bucktown location, 1713 Lake Ave., Metairie,  including dine in and takeout orders at the restaurant and purchases at Deanie’s Seafood Market. Dine Outs have been scheduled for Brother Martin High School (March 13), Archbishop Rummel High School (March 20), St. Catherine of Siena School (March 27), Mt. Carmel Academy (April 3), St. Pius X Catholic School (April 10), Archbishop Chapelle High School (April 24) and St. Mary Magdalen School (May 1), and St. Mary’s Dominican High School (May 8). School boosters need to mention the school name when ordering for Deanie’s to contribute toward the school’s programs. Follow Deanie’s Facebook page for more information on Dine Out for Deanie’s.

This year, the Chifici Family celebrates its 35th year as owner/operators of Deanie’s, and the restaurant and seafood market’s 56th year of operations in Bucktown. Deanie’s restaurants take part in numerous charitable events throughout Greater New Orleans and have long been the sponsor of Archbishop Rummel High School’s Rummel’s American League Baseball team.

Deanie’s Seafood formed the Bucktown Philanthropic Trust with a focus on supporting local children’s causes and celebrating Bucktown’s heritage and culture. Deanie’s also participates at local school fairs, including St. Catherine of Siena’s Fair and St. Louis King of France School’s Bucktown Seafood Festival, where Deanie’s has provided all seafood concessions at the fair the past two years.

On April 8, Deanie’s will sponsor a celebrity table at the 24th Celebrity Waiters Dinner to benefit Archbishop Rummel High School. During the benefit gala, Rummel alumni and local community celebrities—including Deanie’s Seafood in Bucktown Manager Chandra Chifici—host a competition as the celebrity waiters serve their table guests for dinner, collecting “tips” to compete for the title of Top Celebrity Waiter.  Tips can be donated online any time prior to the event, and all proceeds support Archbishop Rummel.

Pinch A Palooza Festival Philanthropy

Deanie’s Seafood’s Bucktown Philanthropic Trust has donated more than $20,000 through Deanie’s Pinch A Palooza Festival initiatives since the event’s founding in 2010. A free outdoor crawfish and music festival at Deanie’s original location in Bucktown, Pinch A Palooza also is a philanthropic event that supports and raises awareness of local charitable causes and organizations.

The 8th-annual Pinch A Palooza Festival and Crawfish Eating Contest  is Sun., April 23 and features performances by Flow Tribe, Amanda Shaw & The Cute Guys, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters, Vince Vance & The Valiants, The Benchwarmers and The Sheik with Resurrection.

This year, Pinch A Palooza will support Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, better known as LOPA, the non-profit charged with educating the public about organ and tissue donation, maintaining the state donor registry and overseeing the donation process in Louisiana. Past Pinch A Palooza recipients include the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, NOCCA – New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, Ronald McDonald House, St. Louis King of France School, Angel’s Place of New Orleans and the 610 Stompers Foundation, which supports a variety of charitable organizations each year.
