From Creole Tomato Festival to pub crawls to art
There’s always something amazing happening in New Orleans–and this weekend is no different! Kick off your summer with any of these fun ideas, and enjoy live music, fantastic food, and art all over the Crescent City.
CREOLE TOMATO FESTIVAL IN FRENCH QUARTER
The 30th Annual French Market Creole Tomato Festival kicks off this Saturday at 10 a.m. and continues through Sunday. The festival features live entertainment from Big Daddy O, All Around Brass Band, and more, plus food from local French Market vendors, and a tomato eating contest. Located just along the Mississippi River across from Jackson Square, this free festival in the French Market is the perfect family outing!
TWO PUB CRAWLS FOR WEEKEND FUN IN NEW ORLEANS
Take your pick from two 80’s movie themed pub crawls this Saturday! New Orleans’ own 610 Stompers host their 6th-annual Ball Crawl from noon – 9 p.m. Their “Back to the Future”-themed charity pub crawl, “Back to the Ball Crawl,” runs uptown including stops at The Kingpin, Fat Harry’s, and Superior Seafood with a blowout party at F&M’s patio bar.
If you prefer Mid-City, local dance troupes The Disco Amigos and The Organ Grinders are teaming up to bring you “The Ferris Bueller’s Leisure Day Pub Crawl” this Saturday as well. Registration for The Crawl begins at 2:30 p.m., and spans from Bayou Beer Garden, to Finn McCool’s, to Mid-City Yacht Club, ending at Second Line Brewing, with a full range of Ferris Bueller-themed activities, contests, and live music.
FRIDAY NIGHTS & MORE FROM NOMA
The New Orleans Museum of Art offers art activities plus live music Friday nights, including weekly discussions from renowned artists. Tonight’s speaker will be Professor AnnieLaurie Erickson with a talk on photography, and music by G String Orchestra. The event gets started at 5 p.m. NOMA’s weekly Thursdays at Twilight series is well underway and runs through August 25, showcasing some of the finest musicians in the city. Drinks and food are available for purchase.
