We are so excited that for the sixth year in a row Pinch A Palooza Festival & Crawfish Eating Contest will be back in Bucktown at the peak of crawfish season!
Pinch A Palooza is Deanie’s way of bringing together the neighborhood in Bucktown, friends in the Greater New Orleans region, and even out-of-town visitors who can’t get enough of our culture down in Southeast Louisiana.
We all know what makes a good festival here in Louisiana and that’s well-seasoned seafood, plenty of drinks and, of course, music that makes you want to get out of your seat and start dancin’!
This year Deanie’s is taking fest-goers back to traditional Southern roots with a live music lineup that includes New Orleans originals, bluegrass, Cajun zydeco, a performance by Mardi Gras Indians krewe Big Chief Romeo Bougere & the Ninth Ward Hunters and New Orleans’ favorite male dance troupe the 610 Stompers. We want to give you a sneak peak at some of the entertainment this year to get you excited and ready to get on your dancing shoes on April 19:
Amanda Shaw & The Cute Guys
Many of you have probably heard of 24-year-old Amanda who has been on the Louisiana music scene since she was in elementary school. Amanda mixes her classically trained violin background with cajun fiddle, vocals and the sounds of mainstream pop. She is a born a performer who produces an electrifying show with her band The Cute Guys each and every time. Mardi Gras Indians Big Chief Romeo Bougere & the Ninth Ward Hunters
Mardi Gras Indians are a rich historical part of Carnival season in New Orleans that began at a time when African-American communities could not participate in typical Mardi Gras parades. The Indians today are known for their intricate and colorful handmade costumes they don as they march in parades showcasing their ceremonial dances, songs and chants. Last year Pinch A Palooza fest-goers enjoyed the cultural performance by Big Chief Romeo Bougere & the Ninth Ward Hunters so much that we had to ask them to return this year!
This year’s Pinch A Palooza marks the third year of the return of Vince Vance & The Valiants, and Vance’s third turn as emcee of our day’s activities. Known for his entertaining and kid-friendly humor and many costume changes–as well as his 17-in coif perched atop his head–Vance will once again keep the crowd guessing and the fun alive!
