Serving generations of schoolday memories in Bucktown
With a new school year just around the corner, Deanie’s Seafood is excited to welcome back to school in New Orleans. With three locations—our original location in Bucktown (Metairie), Deanie’s in the French Quarter, and our newest restaurant, Deanie’s Sea Food Kitchen located on Magazine Street Uptown—our casual family restaurant is a local favorite. Each year we are a go-to restaurant for school sports teams, local college Parents Weekend visitors, homecoming and prom weekend celebrants, and teachers and students enjoying time with their families. We look forward to forging delicious memories for the new school year!
Deanie’s Seafood Restaurants are proud to support local schools through our Dine Out at Deanie’s nights in Bucktown, when the restaurant contributes a portion of proceeds for the night to participating schools. Deanie’s also is involved in various fundraisers and school fairs throughout the year, and is title sponsor of Archbishop Rummel High School’s Division I baseball team.
The Good Shepherd School Opens New Campus
A local school near and dear to Deanie’s is The Good Shepherd School. Good Shepherd provides STEM-based elementary education for underserved children in New Orleans. Good Shepherd School was the non-profit beneficiary or Deanie’s annual spring crawfish festival, Pinch A Palooza, and also was a participating Dine Out at Deanie’s school. Deanie’s Sea Food Kitchen Manager/Owner Chandra Chifici-Scarber also helped raise money by competing as part of a dance team for the school’s Dancing with the Stars fund-raiser last fall.
Good Shepherd School opened to nearly 300 students on a brand new campus in Gentilly for the new school year. The 38,000-square-foot building on Agriculture Street and A.P. Tureaud Avenue is more than double the size of the school’s former site in the Central Business District and will allowing for larger classrooms, a multi-media library and extra space to add Pre-K4 and two sections of each grade level.
Deanie’s Bucktown Philanthropic Trust
Deanie’s Seafood formed the Bucktown Philanthropic Trust with a focus on supporting local children’s causes and celebrating Bucktown’s heritage and culture. Deanie’s participates at local school fairs, including St. Catherine of Siena’s Fair and St. Mary Margaret’s, and supports various other school fundraisers.
Deanie’s Seafood’s Bucktown Philanthropic Trust has donated more than $20,000 through Deanie’s Pinch A Palooza Festival initiatives since the event’s founding in 2010. In addition to The Good Shepherd School, past Pinch A Palooza recipients include the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, NOCCA – New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, Ronald McDonald House, St. Louis King of France School, Angel’s Place of New Orleans, and the 610 Stompers Foundation, which supports a variety of charitable organizations each year
