NEW ORLEANS SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVALS, 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES
The weather is getting warmer, but you can find any number of NOLA events happening on any particular weekend in the Big Easy! Festival Season in New Orleans kicked off several weeks ago, but it’s definitely still in full swing. From fireworks along the Mississippi River, to Essence Festival to soaking up the sun at one of the city’s fabulous hotel pools, the summer in New Orleans is H-O-T!
NOLA EVENTS CELEBRATING HERITAGE AND MUSIC
Louisiana is known for many different genres of music, and if you’re lucky enough to be in the Crescent City this summer, you can experience it yourself! There’s something for everyone, including the Cajun Zydeco Festival on June 24-25. This New Orleans music festival at Louis Armstong Park has food vendors, an arts market, and is family friendly. The Essence Festival from June 29-July 2 is the nation’s largest annual gathering of African-American musical talent and features some of the biggest names in entertainment. They offer free motivational seminars as well as ticketed music events. Satchmo Summerfest in early August celebrates the life of New Orleans’ own Louis Armstrong.

FOOD AND COCKTAIL EVENTS IN NEW ORLEANS
If you thought food and cocktail events during summer in New Orleans came to a halt, you’d be sadly mistaken. The Creole Tomato Fest on June 9-10 is a free event taking place at the historic French Market, with many food vendors and even live music. Tales of the Cocktail is an internationally renowned and awarded festival that celebrates… what else… the history and evolution of the cocktail! You can choose from seminars, tastings, events, and more. And if relaxing poolside with cold beverages and small plates sound like the perfect day to you, then check out one of the city’s hotels open for public swimming. Spots like the Ace Hotel and Le Meridien offer pool access with either a small fee or mandatory drink or food purchase. But the price is well worth it to cool off and socialize at one of these amazing pools, plus you can try out the hotel restaurant while you’re there with many featuring menu service outside.
