Deanie’s Seafood in French Quarter begins 18th year

Restaurant’s second location helps revitalize neighborhood

In a town famous for great seafood, Deanie’s Seafood is in a class by itself. Deanie’s is a “scratch house,” meaning everything is made in-house with the best ingredients available.
After taking ownership of the original Deanie’s restaurant and seafood market in 1982 with her late husband Frank, Deanie’s proprietor Barbara “Mrs. Barbara” Chifici opened the second Deanie’s restaurant in 2001 at the corner of Iberville and Dauphine streets in the French Quarter.

Now in its 18th year, Deanie’s Seafood in the French Quarter is a a draw for both locals and tourists. It has become a destination restaurant whose popularity rivals stalwarts of the Quarter including Brennan’s, Arnaud’s, Galatoire’s and Acme Oyster House. The restaurant is managed by son Keith Chifici.

‘Best of the Big Easy’ recognizes Deanie’s in top 3 Seafood Restaurants, Places for Boiled Seafood

Gambit, a New Orleans news, politics, food and entertainment weekly, has recognized Deanie’s Seafood Restaurants with two top honors in their annual “Best of New Orleans” readers” poll. Deanie’s was voted in the top 3 among Best Seafood Restaurants (No. 3) for the sixth consecutive year, and among Best Places for Boiled Seafood (No. 2) for the third consecutive year in the 2018 readers’ survey, published Aug. 28. The 2018 “Best of the Big Easy Awards” marks the 18th-consecutive year Deanie’s Seafood Restaurants has been honored in the “Best of New Orleans” readers’ poll in nine categories, including Best Place for Boiled Seafood, Best Oyster Po-Boy and Best BBQ Shrimp. Among the honors, Deanie’s ranked No.1 as Best Seafood Restaurant in New Orleans for the second-consecutive year; the fifth time it has been selected by Where Y’at readers among the top three seafood restaurants in New Orleans. Deanie’s also was chosen as the No. 2 Best Restaurant for Boiled Seafood in the annual readers’ survey.

Pinch A Palooza is top New Orleans music festival

Free Crawfish Festival features live music all day

Deanie’s Seafood will host its eighth-annual Pinch A Palooza Festival, a free crawfish festival celebrating Louisiana music and crawfish, on Sunday April 23 at Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant & Seafood Market in Bucktown! Celebrating Louisiana Crawfish Month during the peak of New Orleans music festival season, Pinch A Palooza will feature more than 5,000 lbs. of boiled crawfish, a crawfish-eating contest for adults as well as one for children ages 6-12, crafts and games for the kids, and live music all day long.

New Orleans all-male charitable dance troupe The 610 Stompers will also be warming up the crowd with their spectacular dance moves. With seven bands beginning at 11am, and popular local funk band Flow Tribe closing out the night, this crawfish festival features music and entertainment for all ages!
