A New Year Message from Deanie’s Seafood

As we enter 2019, Deanie’s Seafood Restaurants would like to extend our hopes for a happy new year and our vision for continued success as one of the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans. We are honored to share the authentic flavors of one of the culinary capitals of the world with more than a million patrons each year!

How did Deanie’s get its start?

Deanie’s Seafood Market in Bucktown was one of the first to offer boiled seafood for purchase on the shores of LakeDEA-NYE-emailheader-1200x630 Pontchartrain. Opening in 1961, Deanie’s Restaurant came along soon after, and was purchased by the Chifici Family in 1982.

A second Deanie’s location, one of the busiest restaurants in the French Quarter, opened in 2001 at the corner of Iberville and Dauphine Streets, helping lead the transformation of this area of the Quarter. And in June 2018, our third restaurant, Deanie’s Sea Food Kitchen, opened its doors on Magazine Street in Uptown New Orleans at the intersection of the Garden District and Irish Channel.

What does Deanie’s stand for?

We strive to treat each customer as a guest in our home and to deliver the hospitality and quality for which we are known. We continue to operate one of the only restaurants in the city with its own adjoining seafood market, offering the freshest seafood available from local bayous, the Gulf of Mexico, and of course Lake Pontchartain  We serve certified Wild Louisiana seafood including crawfish, blue crab, shrimp, oysters and flounder, and premium farm-raised catfish we’ve sourced from Simmons Catfish in Yazoo County, Miss., for the past 35+ years. We even peel our own shrimp!

All of our recipes are housemade−from our cocktail and tartar sauce, to salad dressings, to New Orleans Barbeque Shrimp, to the seasoning mix for our Giant Seafood Platters, and homemade desserts.

How do we support New Orleans?

We are proud to be ambassadors of our city to the patrons we serve in our restaurants and market and customers across the United States to whom we ship fresh Louisiana seafood and items such as our Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Etouffee and Stuffed Crab. In our work, we support Louisiana’s fishing industry, New Orleans’ hospitality industry, and numerous charitable initiatives, including philanthropic partnerships through our annual Pinch A Palooza Festival and Candyland Christmas program. Deanie’s donates thousands of dollars each year through the Bucktown Philanthropic Trust, supporting the work of local schools and non-profits to help strengthen our neighborhoods and the New Orleans community.

In 2019, we look forward to continuing to earn our customers’ patronage and loyalty as one of New Orleans’ Best Seafood Restaurants.

We are so grateful for your support.

Happy New Year,

Barbara Chifici
