NOLA’s Favorite Family Christmas Tradition
Yep, it’s nearly Christmastime in New Orleans. And oh what fun it is! From the twinkling lights of City Park to the Krewe of Jingle Parade, it’s the time of year when families flock to take in the sights and sounds of this most glorious season! But of all the family Christmas traditions in NOLA, all the kiddos will agree, nothing compares to the Candyland Christmas with Vince Vance event at Deanie’s in the French Quarter.

Deanie's holiday family program and Breakfast with Santa takes place over four dates in December and supports Angels' Place of New Orleans, a non-profit that offers respite care and other services to local families with children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

Wine with seafood makes for perfect pairing
What’s our idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day? Enjoying a glass of wine or an ice cold beer with Louisiana Seafood! As if gulf oysters, crawfish, and crabmeat weren’t delicious enough, the right pairing can truly enhance your dining experience… and your dinner date. Whether you’re planning to cook at home or going out for a meal, set the mood with the right pairings. We’ve got a few tips for selecting beer or wine with seafood.
Avoid Cooking Disasters by ordering catered holiday meals
We’ve all been there. The build up to the huge family gathering at a table teeming with delicious holiday recipes—a masterfully carved turkey, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable casseroles, freshly baked rolls, two pies for dessert—where wine and conversation flow jovially. But sometimes, instead, the reality is a holiday disaster.
The too-dry turkey that halts all conversation as your guests’ tongues are stuck to the roofs of their mouths, the runny gravy, the bland dressing, the lumpy mashed potatoes.
Good Food and Health keep you balanced this season
Sometimes, getting ready for the holidays can feel like preparing to compete in the Olympics. There’s the constant running around, shopping for gifts, stressing about bills, worrying about hosting a big family gathering, and holiday decorating…not to mention remembering to feed your family (or yourself!) on a daily basis! How can a person get through it all?!
