Pinch A Palooza Festival 2018 Releases Event Day Schedule

METAIRIE, LA. —(April 6, 2018)—Deanie’s Seafood has released the event schedule for its free all-day outdoor crawfish festival, Pinch A Palooza, which takes place from noon to 8 p.m., Sun., April 22 at Deanie’s Seafood Market & Seafood Restaurant in Bucktown, 1713 Lake Ave. The event features five bands, including headliners Cowboy Mouth, kids' and adults’ crawfish eating contests, and a variety of activities and crawfish specialities.

The 9th-annual Pinch A Palooza Festival & Crawfish Eating Contest kicks off with a noon performance by local four-piece classic rock band Roux the Day. At 1 p.m., kids 6 to 12 years old get to test their mettle at competitive eating during the second-annual Pinch A Palooza Junior Crawfish Eating Contest. Boiled crawfish_boat_PinchapaloozaThe adult Pinch A Palooza Crawfish Eating Contest heats take place at 2:35 and 3:10 p.m. The final round is at 4:35 p.m.

The Bucktown All-Stars, The Topcats, Vince Vance & The Valiants and closing act Cowboy Mouth round out the musical lineup. Also performing are New Orleans’ all-male dance krewe the 610 Stompers, who will dance on the Pinch A Palooza stage for the 7th year. Actor, comedian and New Orleans native Johnny Rock emcees the day’s festivities.

Adults 18 and up can enter online at  Pinchapalooza.com to compete in the Pinch A Palooza Crawfish Eating Contest. A $20 registration fee paid the day of the event includes a Pinch A Palooza T-shirt and koozie. Pinch A Palooza Junior contest participants sign up the day of the festival between noon and 1 p.m. A $5 entry fee includes a Pinch A Palooza 2018 T-shirt.

Pinch A Palooza welcomes back sponsors Abita, Lakeside Toyota and Metairie Bank. Media sponsors include Where Y’at Magazine, Offbeat, iHeart Media and WTIX 94.3.

Pinch A Palooza is a crawfish celebration during “Louisiana Crawfish Awareness Month” and philanthropic event that helps to support local charitable organizations through Deanie’s Seafood’s Bucktown Philanthropic Trust. This year’s Pinch A Palooza beneficiary is The Good Shepherd School, a faith-based elementary school serving low-income families in New Orleans.

Free Admission, Fun for Kids & Crawfish Specialities

For the little ones, Pinch A Palooza offers free face-painting, inflatables, a balloon artist, a junior crawfish eating contest, plus fun games and activities like crawfish races and the world’s only Live Crawfish Tic Tac Toe table! Deanie’s lovable mascot Pincher will be dancing to tunes, handing out hugs, and taking selfies with fest-goers all throughout the day.

Pinch A Palooza Festival admission is free. Lawn Chairs are welcome, however no pets or outside food or drinks. A variety of Deanie’s crawfish specialties will be available for purchase, including hot boiled Louisiana Crawfish served with corn and potatoes, crawfish nachos, crawfish balls, fried crawfish tails, crawfish étouffée, plus a selection of non-seafood items, draft beer and specialty cocktails.

Deanie’s Pinch A Palooza Festival Now in its Ninth Year

Deanie’s Seafood Restaurants & Seafood Market introduced Pinch A Palooza in 2010 in celebration of Louisiana crawfish and New Orleans music and culture. Typically held at the start of New Orleans’ festival season the weekend between French Quarter Festival and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Deanie’s Seafood’s Pinch A Palooza fest draws nearly 5,000 people to the the fishing village of Bucktown to get their crawfish fix during the peak of Crawfish Season, which runs from February through June.
