Join Deanie’s Seafood to celebrate the holiday season in the French Quarter with a fun-filled holiday program both kids and adults will enjoy. Deanie’s Candyland Christmas featuring Vince Vance will be offered December 8, 9, 15 & 16 at Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant, 841 Iberville St.

This New Orlean’s style holiday celebration includes a buffet breakfast, a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, memorable arts & crafts for the kids, an interactive holiday performance by Vince Vance and the Valianettes, and a dance train to Candyland station.

Differences between hard shell crabs and soft shell crabs

Looking from the outside, it can be hard to believe that soft shell crabs are the same species as hard shell crabs. Soft shell crabs are in fact blue crabs that have shed their hardened exterior shell. Hard and soft shell crabs are cooked in very different ways causing them to be a part of a diverse range of dishes, due mostly to the difference in their outer shell.

Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant is announcing its ongoing happy hour specials featured throughout the week at its newest location, Deanie’s Sea Food Kitchen, 2200 Magazine St. Located at the intersection of the Irish Channel and Garden District in New Orleans, Deanie’s Sea Food Kitchen is offering a ½ Price Happy Hour on featured wine, beer and spirit brands from 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Louisiana vs Maryland crab recipes

It’s the peak of crab season, which means the crabs are plentiful and delicious! The difference between crabs found in Louisiana vs. crabs found in Maryland? Not a whole lot in terms of the species, although Easterners might argue that the crabs caught off the coast taste better than the ones from Gulf waters… and Southerners might feel the opposite.

Gulf coast male crabs are 16% heavier than Atlantic Coast crabs, and Gulf Coast female crabs are 20% heavier. Sometimes in the off season in Maryland, a mixture of crabs are served in restaurants, from Maryland but also Louisiana and the Carolinas, and most people probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
