The warmer weather is upon us, which means that summer is rapidly approaching. We're used to our summer heat, plus we're excited because the start of shrimp season is almost here! We love 'em boiled, fried, barbecued or in soups and stews. Gulf shrimp are also absolutely fantastic as part of a crisp and refreshing salad. One of the most popular dishes at Deanie’s Seafood Restaurants is our Bayou Seafood Salad. The dish makes the perfect light summer lunch, and it's easy to put together at home.

Crawfish is king at Pinch A Palooza Crawfish Festival

Crawfish season is in full swing, and Pinch A Palooza on April 22 (noon to 8pm) will celebrate all things crawfish! Our dishes are carefully crafted from scratch using the freshest ingredients and authentic family recipes. You can try a variety of dishes at Pinch A Palooza Festival from crawfish nachos, crawfish balls, fried crawfish tails and crawfish étouffée to crawfish bisque and crawfish bread. And did we mention that we’ll have over 5,000 pounds of delicious boiled crawfish plus traditional sides like corn and potatoes? A selection of non-seafood items will also be available for purchase, and you can wash it all down with ice cold beer on tap or other specialty frozen drinks. You can also test your competitive eating skills during our Crawfish Eating Contests for kids and adults.

Crawfish Races, Kids Crawfish eating contest & Family fun

Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant each year delivers an outdoor festival providing free family fun with a focus on Louisiana’s favorite pasttime, the neighborhood crawfish boil. Deanie’s Pinch A Palooza Festival & Crawfish Eating Contest takes place from noon to 8 p.m., Sun., April 22 at Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant & Seafood Market in Bucktown, 1713 Lake Ave. in Metairie. With family-friendly entertainment from bands like Vince Vance & The Valiants and Cowboy Mouth, a fun dance performance by the 610 Stompers, and tons of boiled crawfish and Deanie’s crawfish specialties, Pinch A Palooza is a great family outing on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain.

The festival features live entertainment, a crawfish eating contest for adults and children, and a host of fun activities for kids. Better yet, admission and fest activities are free.

Right now is the best time to enjoy Gulf oysters. Although we love them fried and charbroiled, we’re also partial to a tray of ice-cold raw oysters on the half shell. Of over 150 varieties of oysters harvested and sold in North America, 70% of oysters produced in the United States are from the Gulf Coast. Gulf oysters are in season year-round, but they are largest between October and April.The health benefits of oysters are plentiful, they’re readily available, and best of all, they’re delicious. But are raw oysters safe to eat?
